Issue de son album Facing Future, il s’agit en réalité d’un medley, mis en musique au ukulélé hawaïen, d’Over the Rainbow (initialement chantée par l’actrice Judy Garland pour le film Le Magicien d’Oz) et de What a Wonderful World de Louis Armstrong.
Israel « IZ » Kaʻanoʻi Kamakawiwoʻole (Hawaiian pronunciation: [kaˌmakaˌʋiwoˈʔole]; May 20, 1959 – June 26, 1997) was a Hawaiian musician. He became famous outside Hawaii when his album Facing Future was released in 1993. His medley of « Over the Rainbow » and « What a Wonderful World« . Through his ukulele playing and incorporation of other genres (such as jazz and reggae), Kamakawiwoʻole remains one of the major influences in Hawaiian music.[1]
