Recruiters & Privacy Online

Recruiters are getting fired because they’re stupid. I know a lawyer who is currently working with 2 recruiters who have been fired due to their supposed privacy being interrupted by their supposed friends grabbing a screen shot of their supposed private Facebook / protected tweets and publishing this in public. So much for supposed privacy (that Print Screen button is the devil!). I am sure the “it’s not fair” mantra is prevalent in those homes right now, and who knows they may be reinstated if the tribunal finds that they were unfairly dismissed…but their careers have been interrupted, people have got hurt and all because they were stupid (or perhaps just a little rash and uneducated about how their “private” lives aren’t really private?)”

People are your best asset, especially in a crisis

At the 1st Annual HR Conference organised on Friday, June 28, in Luxembourg, a panel of 8 speakers presented interesting subjects related to HR in Luxembourg. After our presentation about Social Media & Recruitment,  Mr Pol Wirtz of PolWirtz Search presented a highly topical subject about retaining employees in a crisis. He reminded Luxembourg companies that “Your people are your human resource and should be treated as such”, adding at the end of his presentation that  “Having engaged employees at all levels allows companies to outclass their competitors by up to 147% in terms of earning per share and to achieve growth of up to 90% greater than nearest rival.”

Why the Crew of Enterprise did not need HR?

Interesting and funny question from HR expert Heiko Fischer  “Ever wondered why the Crew of the Enterprise did not need HR?” His answer: “Because this crew had mastery, autonomy and purpose and their mission was too unpredictable to be controlled centrally. In Star Trek HR is no longer a Function, instead HR became competencies of Resourceful Humans.” And here we come to the point:  he explained why we have to think more in terms of Resourceful Humans and not Human Resources. “Mixing proven entrepreneurial focus on purpose and contribution based value creation with an agile mindset and a lean startup methodoly, gives HR a powerful method to escape the perpetual hamsterwheel. With the Way of Resourceful Humans, the HR Function becomes the driver and pioneer for an updated, democratic model of Capitalism: Democratic Entrepreneurship“,he said.
